The Barefoot at Havelock resort consists of 19 elegantly designed wood and thatch cottages and villas complete with spacious interiors, modern amenities and ensuite bathrooms. Constructed using environmentally sensitive indigenous materials, this is the first and only ecologically friendly resort in the Andaman Islands.

The fan-cooled Nicobari cottages measuring 350 sq feet are constructed mainly out of fast regenerable materials like bamboo, wood and palm leaves. Bamboo matting shapes the walls, the roofs are created from thatch and local hardwood fashions the floors of this chic cottage. The bathrooms offer 24 hrs hot & cold water. The interiors of the cottage are elegant and in keeping with the theme.

The entire cottage constructed by local craftsmen, is set on stilts above the ground with a foldable step-ladder that prevents some of the wilder inhabitants (read reptiles and small mammals) from accessing the cottage.

The air-conditioned Andaman Villas have been constructed in keeping with our philosophy of ecologically-friendly construction. The timber that creates the fabulous hardwood floors was carefully chosen from plantation forests in Indonesia, to ensure that they closely matched endemic species of the Andaman Islands.

The large, inviting beds with their oversized pillows are fronted by a floor-to-ceiling picture window that gives you a panoramic view of the tropical foliage and fruit trees alfresco. The bathrooms have a separate walk-in jungle shower with a clear glass view of the forest canopy. The bathroom skylight can be raised to allow fresh air into the villa.

Complementing the beautiful villa is a large balcony where you can spend time reading or just soaking in nature and spotting birds amongst the dense green foliage that surrounds you.

Comparable to the Nicobari Cottages in construction, the quaint fan cooled Duplex Cottage have an additional mezzanine floor with a low queen size bed, low seating and low roofing.

The convenient Duplex Cottage is ideal for couples traveling with children or for a group of 4 persons who would like to share a cottage.

The fundamental idea and form of the eye-catching Nicobari Villa has been taken from the traditional “Nicobari Hut” used for dwelling by the local tribe in Nicobar Islands. The Villa comprises of two circular interconnected structures, larger first one being the sleeping space with a private veranda and the smaller second one being the restroom. The roof is constructed entirely from intricately woven T leaves that are locally available- the laying of which is an art in itself.

The large four-poster bed, the plush sea green sofa, writing table and chair along with a low chest that acts luggage stand are fully made out of fine timber thereby adding a rustic charm to the villa. The designer light fittings made of rusted iron plates are appealing and add to the villa’s beauty. The sleeping area opens out to a private courtyard covered with timber narrow folding doors.

The entire design has been conceptualized to maximize the natural light and ventilation and to achieve that large glass sliding doors and pivoted timber shutters have been introduced, giving the guests of this villa unobstructed splendid views of the exterior foliage.

The washroom is spacious with a prominent circular shower area and the ‘his and hers’ vanity basin comes as an added luxury. The timber holding the structures are carved to depict traditional carvings of the tribes in Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

Barefoot Tented Village is located 300 m away from Barefoot at Havelock and consist of a cluster of 06 Fan Cooled Tents. All guests staying at the Tented Village can avail all services of the main resort (Barefoot at Havelock) including the restaurant and ayurveda services. Keeping in sync with the unique experience provided at Barefoot at Havelock we will have no room service, television and telephone in the tented village also. Special opening price of Rs 4500 +5.15% GST per night on double occupancy inclusive of daily breakfast and between 20 Dec 2011-10 Jan 2012 we will be offering these at a price of Rs 7000 +5.15% GST per night on double occupancy inclusive of daily breakfast. The rooms will not have any mini bar but will have a tea coffee maker. We look forward to welcoming to experience our latest barefoot experience
