At Barefoot, we strive to give you a holiday that’s blissful and memorable. We understand that when planning a holiday, you want to be absolutely sure that the resort that you are booking fulfills your requirements in every way.
Hence we recommend that you visit www.tripadvisor.com- an independent website where feedback is placed directly by guests regarding their experience, therefore making it completely unbiased and accurate.
Delighted with our first stay at Barefoot at Havelock last year, we booked again this year 8 nights in this wonderful place. Like last year we enjoyed the hotel and the services. The staff is very attentive, the owner is super nice and does not hesitate to welcome its guests with an aperitif. Our cottage was really comfortable and the service impeccable. The restaurant is always delicious the service is very personalized (Thanks to Shankar for his kindness and his sense of humor). It is a pleasure to enjoy a cocktail in the lounge bar. Barefoot ensures delivery of highly professional transfer airport / hotel. Do not forget to bring cash to pay for your drinks during your stay because they do not accept credit cards or traveler checks. Forget your ipads and smartphones because there is no internet and therefore no wifi ... well everything you need to disconnect this paradise on earth. Thank you to the whole team.
Greetings and a big thanks for a memorable vacation!
We had a truly awesome time right from the pick up at Port Blair to Havelock and the drop back. Everything was just seamless and done with a smile. I would like a special mention for our driver “ Guna” who was very helpful, also a special mention for “ Shankar” who served us at the restaurant ( although he is the reason that we have put on extra kilos!). Also at Havelock, John and his wife were very helpful right from organising bikes to any other demands that we had.
I have just one suggestion that the road from the barrier at the resort leading up to the reception is very bad and although I understand that it has been purposefully kept that way to keep it in tune with the natural surroundings, but it can be made more comfortable at the same time not spoiling the whole feel of the place. Many forest reserves and resorts keep a smooth dirt road which makes travel easy. This I feel is also necessary as people travel 3-4 times a day on that road on scooters/cars for transfers, going out in the city and that 5 minute stretch really makes one uncomfortable.
Other than that it was a wonderful experience and i have made a promise to myself to come there once every year.
Keep up the good work..cheers.
We recently had the pleasure of staying at the Barefoot Resort, Havelock (15-18th February) and we would be most grateful if you could pass our sincerest thanks and gratitude to John and all his staff at the Resort; nothing was too much trouble; they were welcoming, happy, friendly, all the things you want after a long trip from the UK!
The resort is just beautiful and the staff make you feel so at home and all done with a smile that immediately makes you feel at home!
The Restaurant staff were just amazing and they helped us navigate the menu in terms of what dishes would complement our chosen dishes; even when my Husband caught a fish and brought it back to the Restaurant, they advised the best way to cook it and certainly made us a feast that was just incredible.
We had such an amazing 3 days at the Resort and then to see Rajan appearing from the Jungle early one morning was more than we could have hoped for.
I had a Spa treatment which was just wonderful, the Ladies who did my treatment were very professional and certainly made me the most relaxed I have been in a very long while; I can honestly say that it was the best treatment I have ever received and I have had a few in the UK that come nowhere near to the experience at Barefoot – just amazing!
Please be so kind as to send our sincerest thanks and regards to all the staff at Barefoot, you have left us with some amazing memories that will stay with us for a very long time.
Tony & Siobhan King (UK)
Good to hear from Barefoot, we have excellent memory of our trip in 2013 and 2012. Your services are very good, I have one suggestion, you should start a loyalty program for visitors like us who visit you every year and also provide such customers special privilege.
Btw, I have already posted a review of your resort in trip advisor.
There is only one word that describes our stay at barefoot. AWSOME
The staff were really helpfull and made us laugh, nothing was to much trouble for them in helping us out
There was only one thing that I found really annoying, that was how rude some of the guests were to the staff, YOUR STAFF AND RESORT ARE A CREDIT TO YOU.
We are already discussing with mike our return trip to fish and stay at barefoot next march.
I have also mention the barefoot several times in my magazine article on fishing with mike
Great work guys
Jon and Sarah patten
I have to say that it was an extraordinary experience and highly enjoyable. The ambience of the resort and the greatness of nature and the wonderful beach was something I relished. It was pleasant to realize that we have exotic location here in India and we unnecessarily seek to travel abroad otherwise to fulfil our desire.
The staff at the resort was highly understanding and cooperative to the needs of the guests and absolutely courteous. Fantastic.
I wish you and all at Barefoot the best.
KEEP IT UP.
Thanks a lot for your message!
YES, we most enjoyed our stay at Barefoot. We love the bungalows, we love the atmosphere and the food.
We love that there is just a perfect balance of comfort and untouched nature. f.ex. no lights in the alleys at night, but provided pocket lamps, no long chairs and umbrellas on the beach but wonderful sand and waves and cleanliness.
We love the silence, the birds, the trees, the sea! We highly appreciate the competent and extremely kind staff.
"Our" waiter at the restaurant was just amazing!
We all do hope to come back one day!
have a wonderful and successful year 2014!
Esther Brinkmann and family.
1. our cottage was beautiful and spotless; 2. beach n7 is one of the best in the world; 3. staff was really friendly, both barmen and waiters were awesome; 4. activities were nice, loved the snorkelling, fishing with Mike. Swimming with the elephant, although booked in advance was cancelled by your team to have a group from a cruiseship instead of us sleeping in the resort. Our children were terribly disappointed. 5. food could be improved, especially the international dishes, fish was overcooked, the Italian influence in the menu was full of bad tips, in particular the pre-made cocktail sauce instead of a simple freshly made mayonnaise which takes 2 min and the chocolate salami, which in Italy means poor family from the 1970s, should be cancelled from the international menu.
“Go to Havelock....Go to Barefoot!”
Warning: This is going to be a long review, which is in-line with what this place deserves. However those with less patience – if you love serenity & the beaches (the best in asia that too), don’t wait, starting working on when and how! The only word of caution is around Travel. From either Delhi or Mumbai it will take you 5 hours (via Chennai or Calcutta) to get to Port Blair, where you would need to stay the night and take the Jetty (90 minutes) next day to Havelock. But to reiterate, once you get there it’s all worth it!!!!
Booking Process: The reservation process through their reservation desk is seamless and the staff is more than helpful in answering all your queries
Logistics: They take care of your end to end travel needs, which if you do the cost break-up will be more expensive than doing it on your own, however will recommend that you take the option from Barefoot and it makes life easier. The best part is that all you have to do is land at Port Blair and rest (till you leave Port Blair) is taken care off by Barefoot people, and they work like clock-work. So this includes arrival at Port Blair (transfer to Hotel of your choice) – Jetty (to Havelock) tickets – Pick up at Have lock – Drop again from Jetty to your Hotel at Port Blair and then to the airport as well. Have not seen such a well-rounded logistics for any other property in India.
The Property: Wow….what a place!!!! Is the first & most apt way to describe this place…..it’s set amidst a rain forest (is an erstwhile banana plantation) and 100 meters away from the “best beach in Asia”. They have all kinds of rooms ranging from luxury tented accommodation to luxury villas. The accommodation is well laid out and secluded from one another which gives you the privacy. We were in a villa categorized as Andaman Villa – which has a nice sit-out Patio, King size bed and a large bathroom. Also, the villa is constructed entirely from eco-friendly material. My only recommendation here is that they should look at providing some more basic accessories in the bathroom like a comb/disposable bags/dental kit etc., this is especially required since there is no room service.
F&B: The property has a multi-cuisine restaurant & a well-appointed bar. The restaurant has both floor and regular seating. The Food is scrumptious to say the least and the staff really goes out of their way to meet your expectations. “Kanchan” at Breakfast & Lunch time was more than helpful with whats on the menu and stuff to do at the island! My only issue here is the Breakfast, I would expect a place of this level (monetarily speaking) to at least give a respectable spread – the fact that you are restricted to canned juices and bread/egg as part of inclusive breakfast is a small irritant. Everybody with a sweet-tooth must try the chocolate salami, a combination of biscuits and chocolate. The bar is managed by “Gaurav” who is your go to guy for the best home-made breezers and this is one thing you shouldn’t miss out on one of those lazy afternoons. The place also has a lounge at Mezzanine level, where you can have some family time over carom or just laze and pick a book from the shelf and do some random reading.
What else: Well if you get bored of the resort or the beach, then you should get yourself a scooter (just ask at the reception and they will help arrange) and explore the Island – you can try your luck with Beach No. 5, grab a drink at B3 (overlooking the jetty), have lunch at Anju Coco (Beach#5), explore the Kala Pathar or Elephant beach.
Room Tip: Pick any! They are all good.
Our stay at Barfefoot was fantastic. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
I do not have Mr. Sanjit or John’s id, wanted to convey to them that a friend of mine (Shivaditya) will be at Barefoot on his honeymoon, I had recommended Barefoot very highly to him, to take good care of him.
On the area of improvement, if I have to say something, probably one thing can be having light around the pathways / passages. However I am not too sure, it may not go with the nature resort model. Having said that, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, the food and the hospitality at Barefoot.
I would like to really compliment the entire team at Barefoot who have taken detailed care of the arrangements. Everything from the start of my trip at Port Blair airport till the time I was dropped back at Port Blair airport was excellent. All the minute details were taken care and not even in any place was there any delay or mix up.
The hospitality of your staff at Barefoot resort were really commendable. Each one of them were so polite, kind and courteous and most of all very helpful. Special credit to Mr.John. Even your General Manager was kind enough to talk to us. The food at your restaurant was also really good and moderately priced. Me and my family members would like to express our sincere appreciation for the excellent way we were taken care during the entire trip.
I would definitely like to recommend your resort to anyone who wants to visit Andamans and Havelock. In fact i even went and visited few of the resorts in Havelock and nothing was comparable to your resort. The direct access to the world famous Radha nagar beach was really the differentiating factor.
Keep up the good work and my best wishes to the entire team.
Thanks and regards,
you recently asked my husband, Ramesh Fonseca, for feedback on our holiday in the Andamans.
Barefoot Jungle Resort was idyllic and we thought that it looked like the best resort on Havelock. Certainly, of the restaurants we tried, the one in the resort was the best by far. The accommodation was charming, the environment was beautiful and the food was wonderful. The staff couldn't do enough for us. Our only suggestion would be that the track from the gate to the bar could be improved as at the moment it is just stones and potholes.
We used Barefoot Sscuba for snorkelling and scuba diving and can't speak too highly of the organisation - and the instructors. Everything was extremely professional and efficient and everyone went out of their way to ensure that each and every diver/snorkeller had a good experience. My husband and I intend to return to do the PADI course.
Barefoot Scuba Resort isn't as nice as Barefoot Jungle Resort, but this is probably because it attracts passionate divers on a budget. We thought the catering there could be improved upon, as a suggestion.
All the arrangements on the Andamans ran almost perfectly to plan and we found all the Barefoot people to be friendly, helpful and efficient, including the people in Port Blair.
Overall, our holiday was first class and we are determined to return, with friends. I am a Trip Advisor contributor and have said this on their website - and to all our friends as well.
Please pass on our regards to John and Julie, as well as Remko, David, Arjun and Claudio, who all contributed to making our holiday so wonderful.
Havelock at barefoot itself is a heaven.A place which a person can imagine only in dreams, I mean there is no comparison of this property at all with anyone. Staying in the jungle with luxury facilities, 2 mins walking to the Asia's no 1 beach Radahanar beach.
Lastly and most importantly a person a proprietary of Barefoot JOHN- fun loving guy, very intelligent, humble, lovable, caring, in short a most important persona of Barefoot with whom you can chit-chat and I guaranty you will never get bored.
There are some scope of improvement which I find:
1)Charges of Nicobari cottages are higher as per the arrangements inside. If I will do a comparison with tented cottages, I must say tented cottages are far better than Nicobari cottages. This I am saying because of the following reasons:
- Washrooms of Nicobari cottages are very small and not up to the mark as compared to tented cottages washrooms
- you don't have dressing hence everything will messed up when you unpack your bag. In tented cottages dressing space is there.
- lastly, outside sitting space is very less in nicobari cottages as compared to tented cottages.
2) Even though Tented cottages are far better and a value for money choice. it too has some areas of improvement.
- As it is far from main reception. After 5-6 its tough and horrible to reach to the main reception not only because of dark its also because of rough, muddy and clumsy path. Better fixed the path from reception to tented cottages with bricks like it is there towards nicobari cottages.
Don't consider the above said as flaws, it is my perception and a honest review.
HAVELOCK AT BAREFOOT IS SOMETHING I WILL NEVER FORGOT THROUGHOUT MY LIFE....!!!
THE BEST RESORT!!!
There is no second thought about this being the most memorable trip of my life…. And it wouldn’t have been possible without the great hospitality of the Havelock staff.
Starting from transport staff to Mr. John at Reception to the restaurant staff to the room service staff, extending best possible support and making us comfortable.
My daughter still asks about John & Vinilla , speaks about the volume of connect you guys have created, thanks for all the beautiful experience.
And special thanks to the Chef for making a wonderful B’day cake, for my daughter, Jiyya !!!!
I wish if we had few more choices in our restaurant , since the food taste the same across the board, and by end of third day, we wanted to taste something different, else it was a perfect vacation for my family.
Keshav K Moorthy
Though i spent only one night at your resort but it was one of the most memorable experience of my lifetime.
Hospitality was at its best and be assured that barefoot will always be highly recommended from me to each aspirant planning for andamans.
Just a little concern was non availability of room service (since we had our 3 year old kid with us) but still we did not face any trouble. I think its just the way the resort goes on with its theme and objectives.
I loved the beach and dream to come back. Next time i am in that part of the world i would love to spend more time at your resort.
Keep going.....all the best to you and your team at Barefoot Havelock.
First of all I would like to thank my friend who referred Barefoot for my honeymoon trip.
Its was really wonderful experience, everything were perfectly scheduled like the timings, pick up-drops,places to visit and the people in barefoot really kind and helpful especially John and July.
Even the stay at Nest was also good, the guys who were making arrangements and food, very cooperative.
The only thing which made us dizzy was the return trip from Havelock to Andaman in the cruise because of high waves and wind :-)
Thanks for making our trip memorable. You guys are rocking !!!
Great to hear from you. The stop over at Havlock is what made our trip a dream vacation!! My parent and I made the trip and we had a very relaxing holiday. The barefoot property is unique and the experience at the resort is one of the most memorable ones I have ever had. What I appreciate the most are the warm people at the resort.
My dad was actually very low before we set out on this trip, the salt water and John were the best medicine we could ask for. He literally has a spring in his step now and has promised to go back and celebrate his 75th birthday at Barefoot.
There are many wonderful things to say about the resort and the people. Mr Sanjit, your director was an excellent host and shared a lot of information as he showed us about the property. It was always a delight to chat with him whenever we would bump into him. He was never to busy to answer the question we had about the islands and its history or to share with us his experiences.
John and Julie! what can i say about them that you dont already know ! They are your biggest assets, the mood and tone of your holiday is set once you meet them. They make you feel at ease and no request of yours goes undone. What brims over is their joy and passion to be there and to have you there. That is something i noticed in the staff as well, they are exceptionally trained and do such a great job at making you feel relaxed. They have impeccable manners and assist you with out being intrusive. We stayed at 3 different places on this trip and you must already know that your staff are the best.
The food was excellent, the only suggestion I have is that you make the morning packed breakfast a little more fun.If you were to compare what you get when you dine in to what you get in the the packed breakfast(given to guest who head out to scuba resort for various activities) you would see that the current breakfast is really boring with just a cheese sandwich, banana and a juice. I would suggest that you add some more fruits to the mix or better still offer a set breakfast at the scuba resort cafe. The reason why I would really love to see you change this is not just because its the most important meal of the day but rather because the only time a lot of people actually get to sit down and have breakfast is on a holiday, the rest of the time its breakfast in a hurry!
Another suggestion and this will be very profitable for you, its that you provide a few souvenirs for guest to buy to take home. For example Barefoot personalized shot glasses,I have scouted all of Port Blair and could not find any to take back as a memento of my trip to Andaman Islands. Another example is a set of coasters. There are a lot of designs and ways to do this, like a set of four which when placed together form the Havalock map, etc. I have a lot of idea and would love to share them with you if you would be interested. Another really hot seller would be a pack of personalized playing cards. A lot of people buy stuff to take home and you should really consider getting more stuff into your gift shop. We bought two copies of this excellent book on health and food and were hoping to take a little more of Barefoot with us. There is a lot of things you can do and it would be criminal not to explore this avenue some more.
My final suggestion is that you keep a few board games in the lounge not just for the children and families but also for adults to use when they sitting in the area in the evening when the sun has gone down and people come out to relax and have a drink in the lounge area. My family loves playing cards just for fun and we had a lot of guest who joined in when we were there, in fact John showed us a few card tricks as well.
I am most definitely recommending the Barefoot experience to my family and friends. In fact there is a friend couple, who if they are are able to sort out their dates and bookings, will be making the trip in 2nd week of November. My brother is making the trip in February with his wife and he is very keen to take the swim with Rajhan (if he is willing).
I sincerely wish you and your staff the very best and thank you for the excellent holiday we have been fortunate to enjoy at your resort and I would sincerely like to see similar projects and resorts like this all over India. It truly was an unforgettable experience.
It was really a mind blowing experience for me n my family at Barefoot. We are provided with all the facilities to 100% what it has been assured for. Stay , restaurant, and all other members of barefoot are really hospitable. We would definitely suggest as well as recommend this to out near n dear ones.
We had taken a snorkelling trip to Inglis Island during our stay. It was also good. Expect for one fact that we had been assured to provide a wet suit but at the same time it was not provided during the trip. They provided a float jacket only. We understand that they gave these wet suits for Scuba diving only. In that case they should have informed us this prior at the barefoot resort itself. They told us that you can wear anything comfortable we will provide wet suits. This was little disappointing for the barefoot arrangements which we were expecting. I hope you will understand n take this in the right sense.
Thank you for your email and indeed I had a memorable experience at Havelock with complete credit to the beautiful team put-up at Barefoot.
Our experience began from the Jetty where we were picked by your staff for an awesome jeep ride to the hotel, greeted by the most warmest people John & Julie. Loved the concept 'Barefoot'.. the way resort is spread out... exclusivity.. the beach.. not to miss the food and bar.. Forgetting the name of the guy at the bar.. Jugal I guess.. Great guy.. !!
Not to forget the restaurant , kitchen staff .. housekeeping for everything so spick and span.. The food was delicious..
As much things are kept raw for guests to experience the nature at its best.. however I do feel that treating the surroundings for mosquitoes on a daily basis would be a great idea..
I extended my trip for a week thereafter and was fortunate to experience your Scuba Diving Resort.. I wonder why dint the Chennai office offer this resort when I contacted them.. I mean its easier for someone like me who probably wanted to concentrate the trip on water sports/scuba, to stay closer.
The team at Scuba resort is exceptionally great.. From instructors .. Dive masters.. to the reception staff ( Santosh).. the cafe staff.. housekeeping.. Oli is doing a great job in keeping things perfectly right for each and every guest!!
All in all a wonderful experience, where each person I met had a positive attitude.. ready to help.. informative.. and most importantly had a smile on their face anytime during the day!
Thank you guys.. I wish my experience is shared with the team, the least a guest can do to say Thank You & hopefully I would get to see them all very soon..!!
Hope you are doing well.
Sorry for the delayed reply due to some extensive travel in the last few weeks.
It was nice meeting you at the Barefoot in Havelock and I would like to thank you and my dear friend Sanjith to make our trip a memorable one.
We had a wonderful time and would like to appreciate you and the team at barefoot for such a warm reception, excellent hospitality, comfortable stay and the relaxing time my family was looking forward to.
Hope to visit again in the future.
A lot of my French and Indian Friends are keen to visit Andaman and are really impressed to hear my experience. I will keep you informed when they would be planning the travel to Havelock.
Thanks and Best Regards,
