Depressions on the rocks are usually formed by waves over a number of years. When the depressions become deep enough to hold water after the tide retreats, they are sometimes occupied by interesting sea creatures like starfish, moray eel, octopus, etc. who remain trapped until the tide comes back in. Without even entering the water, you can observe closely and learn about these fascinating organisms with our resident naturalist.
