First Light on a Serene Island

When the urge to fill every hour fades, the island reveals itself differently. The forest has more to say. The water holds your attention longer. These experiences are best entered when the Andaman Coucal, the year-long aerial resident of Havelock Island, starts calling in the morning.

Kalapathar Sunrise

Walk to the sea before the sun rises. The gentle chill of the air, the tide retreating, the slow arrival of light across the water: none of it translates into a photograph. It simply belongs to the person standing there. Located about 13 km away, Barefoot at Havelock provides guided trekking and transfers to the Kalapathar Beach.

Tree Walk and Bird Trail

Kayaking near the Mangroves

As the sun lowers, the waters by Havelock’s mangroves turn still and glassy, reflecting the trees and sky. Paddle along the edges as sea eagles perch above & kingfishers skim the water. It is a peaceful way to end the day when you travel to Havelock Island.

Shoreline Fishing at Sunset
